This past Wednesday, May 11, 2011 I think I speak on behalf of all who came out to play some summer kickball that we were all more than eager to get out on the field, crack some obnoxious jokes, wear some neon (and in some cases gold and see-thru netting) and kick some balls. The weather here in Michigan has been cold, rainy, gray and anything but bright - which is why the neon was even more fun. I think we officially beat the winter blues away with our ski goggles, day-glow socks, gold jackets, beards, wrist sweat bands, and neon tank tops. I have to point out that Jag above all gets honorable mention, not just for his athletic skills on Wednesday, but for the SHEER fact that he also pitched & ran the bases in his gold outfit. I also noticed that he had even used mousse prior to arriving to Vet's Park which I think MADE the outfit. About the other team that we played, they almost didn't even have a full team and it was questionable whether we were going to have a game at all. They play OK (obviously not as well as us, since we won). Some of their folks wore jeans (SO last year) and one of their players even slipped on the ball upon kicking and flew up into the air and fell on her back. She managed to pull it together though and kick one of Jag's pitches, only to get out on first bace. All in all it was a highly spirited game and I think we have a lot of great games ahead of us. Stay tuned for I will continue to keep taking lots of embarrassing pictures of highlights, costumes, guest appearances, and such. See you next week when we play the Ruthless Toothless Dodge'em Dodgers. (Ok, not really but it sounds like it would be a good game.)
BTW: Jag's outfit officially came from Pat Fernitz's closet.
Best quote of the night came from Jag: 'So where'd you get your outfit?' Jag- 'I just raided Fernitz's closet.'
Pat, if your reading, none of us think of you differently. We all know you dress up like one of the Jersey Shore on the weekends and its Ok. Sometimes late at night, I put on 'Papa Don't Preach,' and dance around in my living room. It doesn't make me Madonna, but its fun to pretend.
